Berhampur: In a first-of-its-kind initiative to check crime and criminal activities, Berhampur police on Sunday conducted ‘Gunda Parade’ at five police stations here.
The parade was conducted under the supervision of Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra with the participation of 86 offenders.
“The noble initiative aims at counselling the offenders who are on bail in different criminal cases and advising them to join social mainstream by shunning violence,” the SP informed.
The counselling sessions will be carried out once every week to sensitise the offenders to refrain from criminal activities. Strict action will be initiated against those who continue to commit crimes despite such parades, Mishra added.
