Berhampur Police’s Swift Action Helps Rescue 2 Missing Minor Girls From Odisha’s Gajapati

Berhampur: Gosaninuagaon police here rescued two minor girls belonging to Parlakhemundi after they had gone missing from Utkal Balashram, a children’s shelter home, in Berhampur.

The prompt action of the police team ensured the safe return of the children, bringing relief to authorities and their native Gajapati district.

The incident came to light on the evening of March 5

when Sasmita Rani Padhi, superintendent of Utkal Balashram, informed police that two girls, aged 12 and 7, had scaled the rear boundary wall of the institution and fled between 3.20 pm and 3.40 pm.

Both girls being from Ramnagar area of Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district added urgency and emotional factor to the search efforts.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, police constituted a special team and launched an intensive search operation. With the help of local intelligence networks and continuous tracking, police finally traced the girls on the Saturday evening.

The two minors were found safe at Sidamadam village, under Paralakhemundi police station. Their safe recovery has brought immense relief to the authorities of Utkal Balashram and to people of their native district.
