Berhampur: Satya Maharana of Berhampur, who has set 25 international and national records for creating smallest artifacts in different mediums, has added another feather to his cap. He was issued a certificate of recognition by the ‘Exclusive World Records’ (EWR) for carving the smallest chariot of Lord Jagannath in teak wood of 1 mm in height and 1 mm in width.
“I carved this chariot without any lens and I don’t know how it was possible. I offered a puja to Lord Jagannath and started the work with a thin pointed instrument. I completed it within 20 minutes,” said 36-year-old Satya.
Perhaps this is my last miniature of the Nandighosh chariot and I can’t curve any smaller chariot than this, he added.
Satya recently made a chariot of Lord Jagannath in teak wood with a height of 1.3 cm and width of 1.4 cm and followed it up with a further smaller chariot of 3 mm in height and 2 mm in width. He started making smaller version of the chariot of Lord Jagannath in 2016 with a height of 14 inches and idol of Lord Jagannath of 1.4 inches.
He has also been awarded for making artifacts in other mediums including wood, chalk, soap and sand.
