Mumbai’s Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) is planning to procure 50 new double decker buses to replace its old buses.
BEST currently has 120 buses and 70 of them will have completed their shelf life of 14 years between June 2020 and March 2021.
Mumbaikars have reportedly requested BEST not to remove the iconic double decker buses. These buses have been plying in the city since 1937.
The buses will likely be built by Ashok Leyland. A double decker bus carries 140 passengers.
