According to a release by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal on June 26. It is likely to develop into a low pressure area on June 27. Under its influence, there would be more rainfall in coastal, north and western Odisha between June 26 and 29.

Former director of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu said there is a probability of heavy rainfall over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Balangir and Nuapada between June 26 and 28.

However, the rainfall, which has persisted in some parts of western Odisha, will decline from June 29, he added.

Sahu further said there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the upper catchment of the Mahanadi between June 28 and 29.

The day temperature is likely to remain between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius over coastal and western Odisha till June 26. Light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm and lightning activity is likely to occur over the coastal, western and northern region of the state in the next four days, he said.

Apart from Angul, there was moderate rainfall in almost all parts of the state. As a result, the temperature came down to below 40 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state on Friday.
