Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to act tough against the defaulters of Holding Tax.
The BMC Deputy Commissioner has issued a directive to seal the house and business establishments of the defaulters.
As per the directive to the zonal deputy commissioners (ZDCs), w
ard officers will collect the Holding Tax. They will also submit a list of the defaulters to the respective ZDC, who will register a certificate case against them under the Odisha Public Demand Recovery (OPDR) Act, 1962.
Sources said the civic body has sustained a huge revenue loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it hopes to compensate for the loss by collecting Holding Tax from all residents.
