New Delhi: The Indian Embassy in Cambodia has cautioned Indian nationals and advised them to be more careful while accepting job offers from Cambodia. They have been asked to inform the Embassy in case of suspicious offers.
This comes after as many as 14 Indian nationals, who were forced into cybercrime slavery, in Cambodia were rescued by the joint efforts of the Indian Embassy there and the Cambodian authorities, an official statement issued by the Indian Embassy read.
Efforts were being made to expedite the return of the victims to their native places in India. “@indembcam in collaboration with Cambodian authorities have got 14 Indian citizens trapped in cybercrime scam released. They are being looked after by Cambodian side. The Embassy working for their expeditious return home & remains committed to their welfare,” the Indian Embassy wrote in a post on X.
The embassy further claimed that they had facilitated the rescue and repatriation of more than 650 Indian citizens, who fell prey to the scams, with the help of Cambodian authorities.

“Most recently, the Embassy provided specific leads to the Cambodian Police, leading to the rescue of 14 additional Indian victims. These individuals are currently being cared for by an NGO working in coordination with Cambodia’s Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation,” the statement added.
