Bhubaneswar: Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, a two-time BJP MLA from Talsara, was on Wednesday unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly.
“I declare that Bhabani Shankar Bhoi is duly chosen as the Deputy Speaker of the House,” Speaker Surama Padhy announced and congratulated Bhoi.
CM Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy CMs Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Ministers, BJD Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, Congress Leader of Opposition Rama Chandra Kadam and Members of all parties congratulated Bhoi for being the Deputy speaker of the house.
Bhoi has been elected to the Odisha Assembly twice in 2019 and 2024.
Bhoi has been winning the seat for the last two elections. In 2024 Assembly polls, he defeated BJD’s Binay Kumar Toppo by a margin of 17,189 votes.
