Bhadrak Admin Releases Details About 5 New COVID-19 Cases, Notifies 5 GPs As Containment Zones

Bhadrak: After detection of five new positive COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the Bhadrak administration on Monday notified five gram panchyats (GPs) as containment zones.

Among the five persons, who tested positive for the virus, three are from Basudevpur block and two from Bhandaripokhrai block. “Restrictions have been imposed in both the blocks,” the administration’s official Twitter handle said.

“No one will be allowed to enter the containment zones and the residents in these areas have been asked not to venture out of their houses,” Collector Gyana Das said.

All the shopping establishment have been closed, and people in these zones will be provided
essential items through various teams formed by the administration, he said.

“Distribution of PDS and other individual benefits in the five GPs of Basudevpur and Bhandaripokhari blocks will remain suspended during the containment period,” he tweeted.

The fresh cases were reported a day after the administration lifted containment restrictions in the district after two of three persons, who had tested positive for the virus earlier, were cured of the disease.

Puruna Bazaar, Charampa and Erein were declared as containment zones. The restrictions were lifted from Puruna Bazaar on April 15 and the rest two places on April 19.

The district had reported its first COVID-19 case on March 31 when a 29-year-old youth, who worked in Dubai, tested positive for the virus. Two more persons with Tablighi Jamaat link were found to have contracted the infection on April 3.
