Bhadrak: Maa Bhadrakali was adorned as Mahakali during darshan for devotees on the second day of Kali Puja in the town on Monday.
Long queues of devotees formed outside the Bhadrakali shrine as thousands thronged to get darshan of the deity dressed in a red Pata sari in the morning. The crowd included devotees from outside Bhadrak too.
Though Maa Bhadrakali presents a calm face, the Mahakali Besha gives an aggressive look to her.
A seven-day-long Saptamatruka Biswashanti Mahajagnya is held on the occasion of Kali Puja at the temple at Aaharapada here. During the seven days, the deity is adorned in different dresses each day (Saptamatruka Besha).
On the other days, the goddess is dressed in Rajarajeswari Besha, Singhabahini Besha, Jagadhatri Besha, Maha Saraswati Besha and Maha Laxmi Besha.
During the week-long Kali Puja, the temple will be open for devotees from 6.30 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 9.30 pm everyday.
