Bhadrak/ Bhubaneswar: With the situation limping back to normalcy, the district administration on Friday eased the curfew for 11 hours (6 am to 5 pm) in riot-affected Bhadrak town to let people attend necessary chores.
A large number of people were seen in markets, shops and other business establishments while most of the offices in the town were functioning well.
Strict vigil was being maintained by the district administration during the curfew relaxation period and police personnel have been put on alert in the town.
Meanwhile, Anup Kumar Sahu took over as the new SP of Bhadrak on Friday.
The state government shunted out District SP Dillip Das and appointed Sahu as new SP of Bhadrak hours after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Bhadrak and toured the violence affected areas on April 12. Similarly, Bhadrak additional district magistrate Pravas Bhoi has also been transferred and replaced by Talcher sub-collector Shyambhakta Mishra.
