Mumbai: ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’, the first film that Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor did together, was a huge success.
So much so that the two stars, who had started dating during the shooting of Ayan Mukerji’s film, were encouraged to explore more offers of acting together.
And now, that moment has come.
In what can be described as a major casting coup, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has managed to rope in Alia and Ranbir for ‘Love & War’ after a lot of speculation as to who would star in his next film.
Bhansali Productions on Wednesday took to social media to reveal that their next project ‘Love & War’ will star Alia, Ranbir and Vicky Kaushal. The target date is Christmas 2025.
“We bring you Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic saga ‘Love & War’. See you at the movies! Christmas 2025,” Bhansali Productions stated with signatures of the trio.
It’ll be Bhansali’s second straight film with Alia, after the superhit ‘Gangubhai Kathiawadi’ in 2022 which fetched the actress National Award for best female actor. Ditto for Ranbir, whose debut film was Bhansali-helmed Saawariya in 2007. As for Vicky, it will be his maiden work with Bhansali.
Alia shared the announcement poster on her Instagram with a red heart in flames emoticon, so did Vicky with the caption, “An eternal cinema dream has come true (red heart emoticon)”.
Netizens were super excited at the development.
“Wow, this cast is so amazing! Cannot wait for the magic of Bhansali!” wrote one fan.
“My three favourites in one movie what can be better that this!” posted another user.
Another film buff remarked: “Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt are coming back y’all! The best duo ever.”
