Bhubaneswar: Meeting the long-standing of the locals, Bharatpur in the city will have a police station after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced creation of six new police stations in the state on Friday.
Bharatpur police station will be carved out of the areas under the jurisdiction of Khandagiri police station. The government has sanctioned 6 sub-inspectors (SIs), 3 assistant SIs and 21 constables for the new police station.
Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said since Khandagiri area has grown in terms of area and population, the new police station will help in effective crime control.
This will be the 25th police station in Bhubaneswar urban police district including 2 traffic, one Mahila, and one Special Energy police stations.
