Sunny, who runs a garment shop, shot Suri when he and other leaders were staging a dharna outside a temple.
Sunny, who shot Suri five times with a licensed weapon, was arrested on the spot.
“The accused, Sandeep Singh Sunny, was taken into custody from the spot itself. His interrogation is on. We have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code,” said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
