Amritsar: Punjab Police have identified Sandeep Singh, alias Sunny, as the attacker who fatally shot Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri here on Friday.
Police have confiscated Sunny’s car and found photos of comedian Bharti Singh and All India Anti-Terrorist Front chairman Maninderjeet Singh Bitta from the vehicle, India Today reported.
Sunny, who runs a garment shop, shot Suri when he and other leaders were staging a dharna outside a temple.
Sunny, who shot Suri five times with a licensed weapon, was arrested on the spot.
“The accused, Sandeep Singh Sunny, was taken into custody from the spot itself. His interrogation is on. We have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code,” said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
