BHEL Bags Rs 6,650 Crore EPC Order From NTPC For 800-MW Thermal Unit In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: State-owned engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured Rs 6,650 core contract from NTPC Ltd for setting up an 800-MW unit at Darlipali Supercritical Thermal Power Project (DSTPP) Stage-II in Lefripada block of Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

“BHEL has received a notification of award from NTPC Ltd for 1×800 MW Darlipali STPP, Stage-II,” the firm said in its regulatory filing on Friday.

It further stated that the order will be executed on an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) basis and will include design, engineering, supply of equipment, erection, commissioning, and civil works for the project.

The project is expected to be completed within 48 months from the date of the award notification, it added.

In September 2024, the board of the power giant had approved Rs 11,130.98 crore investment for the Darlipali Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II), envisaging addition of another 800 MW unit to the plant.
