Bhubaneswar: With the bulk of the daily COVID-19 cases being reported from the capital city, the Odisha government has been recommended the imposition of more restrictions to contain the spread of the virus.
Talking to mediapersons on Monday, Director, Health Services Bijay Mohapatra said Bhubaneswar accounts for about 40 per cent of the daily count.
“There is a rising trend in the daily cases in Bhubaneswar. Although the city denizens have been requested to strictly adhere to COVID guidelines, large congregations are often found in markets and daily haats,” he said.
Since people are not following the COVID norms, the Health Department has recommended the government to impose more restrictions, he informed.
“Apart from this, the Commissionerate Police have been told to formulate specific action plans to ensure that there will be no large congregation of people at any place in the city,” he added.
