Bhubaneswar: In view of the increase in the number of air passengers, the Centre has decided to expand the Biju Patnaik International Airport in the Odisha capital with the construction of a third terminal.
Talking to mediapersons here on Monday, joint secretary, Civil Aviation, Usha Padhee said a decision to this effect has been taken after a meeting between the state government and the Civil Aviation Ministry.
She said the construction work of the third terminal will begin from July next year at a projected cost of Rs 930 crore.
Talking about the resumption of flight operation from the newly-constructed Veer Surendra Sai Airport at Jharsuguda, Padhi said that the ministry has floated a tender in this regard and the flight services will begin by January next year.
