Bhubaneswar: The Biju Patnaik International Airport here will remain partially closed for eight months.
As informed by the airport authorities, a decision to this effect was taken for the re-carpeting of the runway of the airport.
As decided, the airport will remain closed from 10 pm to 5.30 am from November 1 to March 31 and from 10.30 am to 6 pm from April 1, 2020, to June 30, 2020. The re-carpeting work will be taken up during this period.
The re-carpeting of the runway of the airport was last done in 2007.
Talking to the media, director of the Airport Suresh Chandra Hota said airliners will be requested to revise the flight schedule accordingly.
At present, the airport handles 39 flights to and from Bhubaneswar.
