Bhubaneswar: Odisha capital Bhubaneswar has won the ‘City with the Best Public Transport System’ award at 17th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Exhibition 2024.
The awards on urban sector were announced in 12 categories at the UMI conference held at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), which operates the transport system in Bhubaneswar, was declared the recipient of the ‘City with the Best Public Transport System’ award.
The awards are given to the state/city authorities for excellence/best practice projects in urban transport. The winners were selected by the Awards Selection Committee headed by the high-level officers of the government and experts in the transport sector.
Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal addressed the valedictory session of the three-day UMI Conference and Exhibition on Sunday.
Tokhan Sahu, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs; Kanubhai Desai, Minister of Finance and Energy, Government of Gujarat; KC Mohapatra, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Public Enterprises, Government of Odisha; Srinivas R Katikithala, Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs were among the dignitaries present at the event.
