Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Bali Jatra, which had been suspended for two consecutive years, has obtained official approval this year.
Secretary of Bhubaneswar Bali Jatra Committee Tapan Baliarsingh on Saturday told the media that Khurda district collector and deputy commissioner of police (DCP) have issued their approval for the Bali Jatra in Odisha capital.
Baliarsingh said the committee has geared up to make arrangements for the Bali Jatra on Kuakhai riverbed. It will be a 9-day fair this time as the Jatra will start on November 8 and conclude on November 16. As many as 600 stalls of household articles and others would be set up this year, he added.
Bhubaneswar Bali Jatra has been organised since 2017 to recreate the festive fervour of the famous annual fair of Cuttack Bali Jatra.
The state government had suspended Bhubaneswar fair in 2020 and 2021 due to restrictions on gathering in the wake of COVID pandemic.
