Bhubaneswar: Air India has decided to temporarily suspend the direct flight service between Bhubaneswar and Bangkok in Thailand from Monday.
Sources attributed it to operational reasons. The flight operations will remain shut till September 30, they added.
Air India had started this flight on December 10, 2017. This bi-weekly flight was the only direct flight to Thailand from Odisha capital.
The flight had received a water cannon welcome and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had inaugurated it.
On the other hand, Air Asia has been operating direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia since April 26, 2017. This flight’s tickets have been partially subsided by the state government.
Following suspension of Bhubaneswar-Bangkok services, Kuala Lumpur is the only international destination where direct flights operate to and from Biju Patnaik International Airport.
