He couldn’t have chosen a better day to unveil a clothesline inspired by Lord Krishna! Bhubaneswar-based designer Ramakishna Pattnaik aka Ramuli took to social media, one the eve of Janmashtami, to spread love, beauty and joy, the very essence of the name, with his creation.
Under the label Ramuli Creations, he has woven the romance and colours symbolising the enchanter, using Odisha fabrics.
“When I was invited to the opening of the Jagannath Temple in the United Kingdom, the idea to create something unique with Krishna as the theme crossed my mind. The fabrics from Odisha – Sambalpuri, Ikat and Kotpad, are highlighted in this collection and punched with silk and Chanderi,” he said.
It took his team five days to come up with this collection which includes 10 pieces of art, including sarees, waistcoats, lehengas and corporate wear.
“My collection is wearable and has a classy feel to them because of the rich Odisha weaves. It has a cosmopolitan touch, it can be your brunch outfit and something for your dinner outing. The cuts are sure to attract the younger generation. They are perfect for mix and match. One can coordinate a lehenga with a shirt and use the blouse with a pair of jeans,” said Ramakishna.
Elaborating on the colours, he said blue and green suit all skin tones and are good for all seasons.
“I want people to dress up on Janmasthami while celebrating the occasion of the birth of the Lord and make it even more lively,” he added.
