Bhubaneswar: The capital city of Bhubaneswar will soon get a woman mayor for the first time. The Odisha government has reserved Mayor posts of Bhubaneswar and Berhampur Municipal Corporations for women.
The Cuttack Municipal Corporation has been categorised as unreserved, stated an order issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department.
The department, in a gazette notification, has invited objections and suggestions from all persons interested within a period of 15 days from the date of the publication of the notification.
It may be mentioned that last week, the state government released draft reservation list of wards for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Cuttack Municipal Corporation and Berhampur Municipal Corporation. Also, the delimitation of wards for the three municipal corporations was finalised.
While BMC will have 67 wards, the CMC has been divided into 59 wards. The BeMC will have 42 wards.
