Bhubaneswar: To expedite the free booster dose administration pace for the 18-59 years age group, vaccination camps will be set up in 10 shopping malls across Odisha capital.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), the decision was taken since youngsters of the city mostly hang out at these places. “Along with 13 primary and community health centres, the drive will also be conducted in malls. Youngsters and other eligible beneficiaries from the 18-59 age group will be covered,” said BMC commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.
While Odisha has 2.65 crore eligible beneficiaries, the Bhubaneswar civic body has set a target to provide 8 lakh free booster doses during this ongoing 75-day drive.
The city currently has 1,185 active COVID cases after 257 fresh infections were added to the tally on Sunday. The total is likely to rise further with Khurda district reporting 218 cases in the last 24 hours. The current wave is likely to plateau at 1,500 cases daily by mid-August.
