Bhubaneswar: Amid allegations of misutilisation of parking space in Odisha capital, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has threatened to seal designated parking premises in residential and commercial complexes for violation of norms.
Inspections found that vehicles were being parked on the streets in the city while the premises were put to commercial use.
In a notice issued on Monday, the civic body has asked developers and owners of apartments to ensure proper utilisation of their parking space approved in the building plan within a month.
The BMC officials said that space designated for parking in the basement/ground floor/open area in the approved building plan has been either partially or fully converted to other uses such as commercial/store/office in many apartments and commercial buildings, leading to the parking of vehicles on the adjacent roads which cause traffic snarls and public inconvenience.
The violation attracts actions under Section 91 of the ODA Act, 9182.
