Bhubaneswar: The Court of Special Judge in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday convicted seven persons including Vinod Kumar, former managing director of ORHDC in a case of financial irregularities.
Besides Kumar, the other convicts are Swosti Ranjan Mohapatra, former Company Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Rout, former Accounts Officer, Satya Prakash Behera, former Junior Loan Officer, Janendra Swain, former System Analyst, Umesh Chandra Swain, former Recovery Assistant, all of Orissa Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC), Bhubaneswar and Lingaraj Patra, MD, City Builders and Developers Pvt Ltd, Bhubaneswar.
The Court sentenced all the convicts to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.
The court observed that Kumar, and 5 other officials of ORHDC had shown undue official favour to Lingaraj Patra in illegal sanction and disbursement of loan in the guise of individual loanees based on fake and forged document, thereby violating all the guidelines and norms causing loss to ORHDC.
This is the 11th conviction involving corruption in ORHDC by Vinod Kumar and other officials.
