Bhubaneswar: The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar on Monday convicted Vinod Kumar, IAS, former managing director of ORHDC in a case of housing loan scam and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for 3 years.
Odisha Vigilance had filed the charge sheet against Vinod Kumar, A Anand Rao, former assistant manager of Odisha Rural Housing and Development Corporation (ORHDC) and Radha Ranjan Pattanaik, former managing director of SFLCC in the case of sanctioning house building loan to 20 employees of State Federation of Labour and Construction Cooperative (SFLCC) Ltd by accepting forged document.
The court sentenced both Vinod Kumar, and Anand Rao to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and pay a fine of Rs 50,000. In default of payment of fine, they have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a further period of 6 months.
The court also sentenced Radha Ranjan Pattanaik to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years and pay fine of Rs 50,000. In default of payment of fine, he will undergo rigorous imprisonment for a further period of 6 months, the court ruled.
Biswananth Mishra, former DSP, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division investigated the case and HK Swain, special public prosecutor, Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
