Bhubaneswar: In a relief from the sweltering heat and humidity, Odisha’s twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack woke up to a wet Sunday morning with Nor’wester triggering rain and thunderstorm in several districts of the state.
The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightning in some parts of Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Jajpur, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur till 12.45 pm.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strikes during the three hours.
The MeT office had earlier forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorm at one or two places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal till 8.30 am on Sunday.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati during the subsequent 24 hours, it added.
