Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital along with Cuttack, Jajpur, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Bhadrak witnessed intense rainfall on Friday morning.
The regional centre of India Meteorological Department has issued yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning in some parts of Khurda district, including Bhubaneswar, till 11.30 am. Similar warning was sounded for Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Jajpur and Dhenkanal till 10.30 am.
People were advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
“Showers just after the Diwali celebration is like ashirbaad (blessing) as pollution in the air will get washed away by the rain……,” senior IMD scientist Umashankar Das tweeted.
He also informed about dense fog engulfing several parts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Deogarh, Bargarh, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Sonepur and Boudh this morning.
