Bhubaneswar: The wait is over for Odia cinema enthusiasts and aspiring filmmakers as the three-day Bhubaneswar Film Festival (BFF) gets underway at Jayadev Bhawan here on Friday.

One of the highlights of the exclusive Odia film festival will be the screening of 15 award-winning and classic Odia movies since 1960.

The festival, hosted by Bhubaneswar Film Circle, is open to all.

Screening at Jayadev Bhawan auditorium starts around 9.30 am on all three days with five films to be screened daily.

The Inaugural ceremony, scheduled at 7.15 pm on June 7, will be attended by directors Ketan Mehta and Prashanta Nanda, cinematographer and director AK Bir, actor and producer Deepa Sahi, and National School of Drama (NSD) actor and director Chitta Ranjan Tripathy.

Bollywood’s renowned casting director and filmmaker Mukesh Chhabra and acclaimed director Amit Rai will hold masterclasses for budding actors, screenplay writers and filmmakers — who have registered online — on June 8 and 9.

A bilingual scholarly publication titled ‘Odia Cinema@90’, featuring edited articles on different facets of Odia film industry, will be unveiled during the festival.
