Bhubaneswar Hottest City In Odisha Again; Know The Rain Forecast For March 20

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital was back as the hottest place in Odisha as the mercury soared to 39.3 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

It had recorded 37°C the previous day.

After remaining tolerable below 40°C for some days, the mercury had again soared up to 40.4°C in the city on March 6. It was the hottest place in the country on that day.

Bhubaneswar had earlier hogged headlines after recording 40 degree Celsius in February, after a gap of five years. The city had earlier recorded 40.9°C on February 21, 2016, and 42.7°C on February 23, 1963.

According to the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD),  nine other places recorded above 38°C. Balangir registered 38.7°C followed by Titilagarh, Malkangiri, Nayagarh and Boudh at 38.5°C, Cuttack (38.2°C), Talcher (38.1°C) and Baripada (38.0°C).

“Maximum temperature (Day temperature) very likely to rise by 2-3°C at many places in Odisha during the next two days and there will be no large change thereafter,” the Met office said.

Meanwhile, Angul saw very dense fog with 50-metre visibility on Wednesday morning. Bhubaneswar and Paradeep experienced dense fog while Cuttack and Gopalpur saw moderate fog.

The IMD has also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at one or two places in Bargarh,  Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Gajapati on March 20.
