Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to remain under the grip of heat wave as mercury breached 43 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
According to evening bulletin of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, Bhubaneswar recorded the highest maximum (day) temperature in the state with 43.6 degree Celsius on the day.
Besides Bhubaneswar, two other places in the state witnessed temperature going beyond 43 degree. While Boudh registered maximum temperature of 43.5 degree, Angul came third with 43.3 degree Celsius.
As many as 14 other places in Odisha recorded temperature of 42 degree Celsius or more, as per the IMD bulletin.
The IMD said the day temperature is very likely to go up to 40°C or above at most places and remain above normal by 3 to 5°C in some districts of Odisha during next 4 days due to prevailing Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation. It advised people to take precautionary measure while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm.
The Met office issued orange warning and said heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places in the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul and Nuapada. Heat wave condition is very likely at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, and Ganjam.
Issuing yellow warning, the weather forecaster said heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places in Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh, Gajapati and Bargarh districts.
