Bhubaneswar: With Odisha capital coming under COVID red zone, Bhubaneswar mayor Sulochana Das has warned its people of penalty for not using face mask in pubic places.
After three major cities of the state, Puri, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, were declared as red zone due to spike in daily COVID cases, the mayor has directed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to lighten the enforcement measures for wearing face masks by the people.
The new COVID positive cases crossed 200 to reach 210 in Bhubaneswar on Friday as the test positive rate (TPR) went up to 10.6. The TPR in Cuttack and Puri was 8.1 and 7.7 respectively.
Considering this, Das said mask has been made mandatory to prevent spread of coronavirus. Anybody found not wearing mask in the capital city will be imposed a penalty of Rs 500 by the enforcing authorities.
Odisha’s daily COVID cases crossed 500-mark on Saturday as total 512 new patients were registered across the state.
