Bhubaneswar: The spectators had a fun-filled evening on Sunday at Dear 2019, the biggest-ever standup comedy show by local artistes in the Odisha capital.
The event was organized at Odissi Research Centre and featured Pratyusha Pangari as the opening comedian. She presented herself as an air hostess and took the audience on the laughter spree.
Taking a jibe on Odias and Bengalis fighting over Rasagola, the next performers, Akash Baghar and Priyaranjan Sahoo made everyone burst into tears when they compared other career options with a career in standup comedy.
The next act was apt for the moment wherein Akash and Roshan Bisoi presented a conversation between a father and son on New Year resolutions.
Next in the league were Samar Pratap Nayak and Surya, who sympathized with the employees sitting in the audience and presented an act on the relationship between a boss and an employee.
After that Bivash Rath entertained everyone with parodies of popular songs followed by a talk about life in media profession.
Next segment saw Roshan and Dipanwit Dasmohapatra, who took a dig at the political situation in the country. Post that, Priyaranjan Sahoo had everyone in splits with his take on movies of the year. Moreover, Samar and Bivash sang loudly, a song on ‘Bhai’s’ films and life.
Being supported by two of the most successful comedy clubs of the city, Bhubaneswar Komedians and The Chain Jokers, the city denizens had a great time at the event which concluded with the performance of Riten Patnaik who joked about what it’s like to be an Odia outside the state, he also lifted the laughter mode with his act on copycat syndrome in Odia film industry.
