Bhubaneswar: Mahila police in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar have arrested husband of a woman judge on charges of dowry harassment and physical and mental torture.
According to police sources, a case was registered based on the written complaint submitted by judge, currently posted in Nabarangpur, who detailed sustained demands for dowry accompanied by physical assaults and emotional abuse despite living separately for over last 10 months. S K Ijazur Rehman, a resident of Bapuji Nagar here, was arrested last night after preliminary verification of the allegations and later produced before the court.
The judge had initially attempted to resolve the marital discord through family mediation and approached police when the situation worsened, the sources added.
