Bhubaneswar: A job aspirant was duped of Rs 10.30 lakh on false assurance of employment with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
The victim, identified as Sagar Kumar Padhi, a resident of Jagamohan Nagar here, has lodged a complaint with Khandagiri police in this regard.
According to the complaint, one Suresh Barik of Nayagarh district took the amount from Padhi and promised to get him a job at IOCL in Paradip.
When nothing came of it, the complainant asked him to return the amount. However, Barik abused him and threatened him with dire consequences.
Police have registered a case under Sections 420, 294 and 507 of the IPC and started investigation.
