Bhubaneswar Market Attack: 18 Miscreants Caught, Hunt On For Others

Bhubaneswar: Hours after a reign of terror was unleashed by masked goons in the busy Market Building area in Bhubaneswar, the commissionerate police apprehended 18 miscreants late on Friday night.

In a tweet on Saturday, the commissionerate police informed that the incident had taken place in the evening after a shop owner allegedly misbehaved with two customers. Following an altercation, the two customers informed their friends. The situation took a violent turn when a group of 25-30 masked miscreants came to the market and started attacking street vendors with hockey sticks and iron rods. This triggered panic in the market with both shop owners and customers running helter-skelter to save themselves.

Following information, a team of Capital Police Station rushed to the market with additional force to take stock of the situation. Police later seized five bikes and admitted two injured vendors to the Capital Hospital.

On the basis of the CCTV footage, police arrested 18 miscreants and brought them to the Capital Police Station for interrogation.

The commissionerate police said that the other miscreants involved in the vandalism have been identified and they will be arrested very soon.
