Jajpur: First woman mayor of Bhubaneswar, Sulochana Das, offered prayers at Maa Biraja temple here on Wednesday.
The Mayor offered prayers to the presiding deity of Jajpur along with her family members.
Speaking to mediapersons after the rituals, Sulochana said mayor of the capital city is a very responsible post and she wishes to fulfil it with full dedication and blessings of the goddess.
BJD’s Mayor candidate for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation won the Municipal election by a margin of 61,000 votes against BJP’s Suniti Mund.
While Sulochana polled 1,74,487 votes, Suniti got 1,13,400 and Congrees’ Madhusmita Acharya was a distant third with 11,006 votes.
