Bhubaneswar: BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi had made her displeasure public and protested strongly after the Odisha government did not invite her to the grand celebrations to mark the state capital’s 74th Foundation Day on April 13 this year.
It seems her protests have had no effect on the state government, which has once again not invited the Bhubaneswar MP to the 73rd Van Mahotsav in Ward 50 of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday.
This time, the lawmaker, however, announced that she would attend the function uninvited.
“Is this insecurity of the State Govt, or its fear or its narrow mindedness or arrogance or all four put together? How do we explain this?” she tweeted.
“Surprisingly, the local elected MP has neither been invited nor informed. The local BJP corporator is also missing,” she tweeted.
“Planning to go uninvited/without my name in the invitation card,” she tweeted further.
Among those invited to the event organised by the state Forest and Environment Department are Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Forest and Environment Minister Pradip Kumar Amat, Public Enterprises Minister Ashok Panda, Bhubaneswar MLAs Sushant Rout and Anant Narayan Jena and BMC Mayor Sulochana Das.
Wearing black badges, state BJP workers staged a protest outside Baramunda High School on Thursday.
Minister Ashok Panda offered no clear answer as to why the MP was not invited to the function.
