Bhubaneswar: After the Special Relief Commissioner’s direction on identification of night shelters in view of the intense cold situation in some districts of the Odisha, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation on Monday identified two schools for the purpose.
The schools in Bhubaneswar limits are – Government Nodal UP School in IRC Village and Station Bazar UP School in Budheswari Colony.
The two schools will be used as temporary shelter for homeless people in view of prevailing cold wave conditions, a source in BMC said.
Earlier in the day, the SRC had asked district collectors of districts under orange and yellow warning to make immediate arrangements for opening of school buildings, community buildings and other available structures for use as night shelter by the homeless and needy people.
