Accused Jagannath Pradhan and victim Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahu
Jajpur/Bhubaneswar: A day after the brutal murder of a woman inside a house at Bhimtangi in Odisha capital, the mother of the accused on Tuesday said that the deceased was in a long-time relationship with her son.
Talking to the mediapersons on Tuesday, Sabitri Pradhan said that her son had severed ties with Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahu after she married another person and had wished her well. “After the birth of her child, she tried to re-establish contact with my son who had moved to Bengaluru,” she said.
Their relationship was reportedly rekindled during the COVID lockdown in 2020 and they resumed their conversation.
She said that her son left home on Monday saying that he had to attend to some urgent work in Bhubaneswar. “Had he given any inkling of his intentions, I would have never allowed him to leave the house,” Sabitri said.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police informed the media that the accused in his statement had said that he was in a relationship with the deceased for 12 years. They studied in a private college in Jajpur and he used to visit her house before her marriage.
