Jajpur/Bhubaneswar: A day after the brutal murder of a woman inside a house at Bhimtangi here, the Commissionerate Police seized the mobile phone of the brother of the accused on Tuesday evening.
A team of Commissionerate Police arrived at the house of the accused Jagannath Pradhan at Bada Mangalpur village and interrogated his family members. The team later seized a mobile phone of Sudarshan Pradhan, the younger brother of the accused.
The team later went to the house of the deceased Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahu at Bandhadiha village and spoke to the family members.
Earlier in the day, the body was sent to her in-laws’ village Mohammad Nagar under Kuakhia police limits after a postmortem at Capital Hospital. She was cremated there in the afternoon.
The Commissionerate Police told the media that the postmortem report indicates that the accused had suddenly attacked the woman.
“The deep wound on the left hand of the deceased shows that she tried to resist the knife attack. Going by the circumstantial evidence, there was a scuffle between them. The accused later overpowered her and slit her throat,” police said.

A day after the incident, the Airfield Police accompanied by a scientific team went to the house at Bhimtangi and seized some articles, including a vermillion box of the deceased and the blood-stained suicide note. The seized articles have been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL).
Police said that the Handwriting Bureau Division of the SFSL will examine the suicide note which will be major evidence against the accused.

Police also said that they will ask the WhatsApp authorities to provide the details of the calls, messages and videos sent by the accused to Rakesh Sahu, the husband of the deceased, and the photos shared by him in his family groups after committing the crime.
