Bhubaneswar: In a minor victim’s rape case, Additional District Judge (ADJ) 4-cum-Special Judge POCSO (K), Bhubaneswar, Minakshi Dash sentenced the accused Anand Rout to 10 years imprisonment.
The ADJ 4 also imposed a fine Rs 20,000 on Anand. On failure to pay the fine amount, Anand of Tangi area in Khurda district, will have to undergo another year imprisonment.
Anand had raped a 11-year-old girl of the village in February 2017. On the fateful day, the girl had returned home from school and was alone at home as her parents were away at work. Taking advantage of this, Anand entered her house and committed the crime. He had also beaten the girl and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone.
However, the girl informed her father after he returned from work in the evening. The next day, the girl’s mother filed a complaint at Tangi police station.
