Bargarh: Stage actor Bhubaneswar Pradhan has been selected to play the role of King Kansa in place of Hrusikesh Bhoi during Dhanu Yatra in Odisha’s Bargarh.
According to sources, total four persons had been shortlisted for the role. Besides Pradhan, three others are Jagadanand Mishra, Artatran Sunani and Sushil Meher.
The Dhanu Yatra Committee conducted the selection process at Biju Patnaik Town Hall in Bargarh on Sunday. Finally, the committee selected Pradhan for the important role to be enacted during the Dhanu Yatra, which is claimed to be the biggest open air theatre in the world.
In his reaction to the selection, Pradhan said he had earlier also played the role of King Kansa and hence was confident of presenting a memorable performance for the people coming to the Yatra.
Hrusikesh Bhoi, who played the role last year, was not considered by the committee as a corruption case is pending against him.
