Bhubaneswar Records 113.2 MM As Heavy Rain Pounds Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha received heavy rainfall between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal with the state capital recording its season’s highest of 113.2 mm.

Apart from Bhubaneswar, 56.4 mm rainfall was recorded in Cuttack followed by Paradip (46.9), Titlagarh (41), Angul (32.6), Puri (32.5), Keonjhar (28.3), Nayagarh (28.1), Balasore (27.4), Koraput (22.4), Bhawanipatna (18.4), Phulbani (17) and Gopalpur (15.6).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in a mid-day bulletin, on Wednesday, said that a seasonal monsoon trough running from north Punjab to the northeast Bay of Bengal across Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, north Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal and a cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and adjoining the northeast Bay of Bengal will further activate the southwest monsoon and trigger heavy rainfall and thundershower in the state for five days till June 27.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Malkangiri and  Koraput.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Malkangiri and Koraput.

June 24
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Keonjhar and Kalahandi.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack and Balasore.

June 25
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak,  Jajpur, Keonjhar, Kendrapada, Cuttack.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda and Ganjam.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak,  Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Rayagada.

June 26
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri and Cuttack.

June 27
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
