Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload made a sharp rise as 1498 new cases were detected in 24 hours between 9 am of Wednesday and that of Thursday against 1414 cases in previous 24 hours.
As many as 1402 COVID positive cases were reported till 9 am of Tuesday against 1360 of Monday, 1321 of Sunday and 1233 of Saturday.
Of the total new cases, 1445 patients are local contacts while 53 are from quarantine.
Of the local contact cases, maximum 157 cases are from Nayapalli, 150 from Patia, 148 from Khandagiri, 130 from Chandrasekharpur, and 78 from Old Town.
Total 995 persons recovered from the infection during the period taking the total number of recoveries to 1,27,404. The active cases have gone up to 10,676.
The number of fatalities has gone up to 1109 as 4 more persons succumbed to COVID during the period. The total positive cases in the city so far have gone up to 1,39,210.
