Bhubaneswar Reports Highest Single-Day Spike In COVID-19 Cases

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 cases in Odisha Capital reported the highest single-day spike on Monday with 468 new cases in the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 36,147.

Among the new cases, 82 (18%) are quarantine and 386 (82%) local contacts.

While a maximum of 27 cases has been reported from Nayapalli, 19 cases are from Patia followed by Old Town (18), Sundarpada (17), Pokhariput and Khandagiri (14 each), Rasulgarh, Sailashree Vihar and Chandrasekharpur (13 each) and BJB Nagar, Jharpada and Unit-3 (10 each).

Although 123 patients have recovered from the illness, the rate of recovery compared to the positive cases (468) is only 26 per cent.

With 33,404 recoveries and 250 deaths, Bhubaneswar has now 2827 active cases.

It may be mentioned here that the COVID-19 cases in the capital city in the last 18 days since April 1 have soared to 3,285.
