Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital saw almost 4°C drop in the night temperature in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday
Bhubaneswar recorded 17.8°C as against 21.6°C the previous day.
Cuttack also saw 3.5°C drop in the mercury level. The city recorded 17.5°C compared to 21°C on Thursday.
Similar drop in the night temperature was seen in Rourkela (from 13°C to 9.8°C), Jharsuguda (13.2°C to 10.2°C) and Sundargarh (15.3°C to 12.6°C). G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest in the state at 9.4°C, a drop of 2.8 since the previous day.
The weather agency has predicted further fall in the night temperature by 2-3°C during the next days. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur during early morning hours of February 15-16 at one or two places in North Coastal Odisha. It has also forecast light to moderate rain at one or two places in North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, on February 19 and in North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal during the subsequent 24 hours.
Notably, the day temperature had crossed 35°C in Bhubaneswar for the first time this season on Thursday. The state capital recorded 35.4°C.

Angul was the hottest place in the state at 35.9°C followed by Jajpur (35.2°C), Bargarh (35.1°C), Khurda (35°C), Jagatsinghpur (35°C), Malkangiri (35°C), Jharsuguda (35°C), and Dhenkanal (34.9°C. The mercury also breached 34°C in Hirakud, Chhatrapur, Titilagarh, Balangir and Bhawanipatna.
Bhubaneswar IMD director Manorama Mohanty had earlier said that the night and day temperatures will drop slightly across the state on Friday and there may be a slight chill at night.
