Bhubaneswar: Odisha capital appears to be witnessing an alarming rise in the incidents of snatching. While the residents of Bhubaneswar feel unsafe while venturing out, such incidents have thrown a challenge for the law enforcing agencies.

Bike-borne snatchers seem to be targeting mostly women, leaving them   more vulnerable particularly during morning and evening hours in different parts of Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, bike-borne miscreants snatched gold chains from two women in capital city in last two days. Visuals of both the incidents have been captured by CCTV cameras installed in the localities.

As per reports, two bike-borne miscreants snatched the gold chain from a woman when she was walking on the road near Vani Vihar. She was carrying some goods in some bags.

In a similar incident, miscreants on bike snatched the gold chain of a woman in in Laxmisagar area. CCTV footage showed the woman chasing the snatchers, but they moved away swiftly.

The Commissionerate Police has launched an investigation into the incidents based on the CCTV footage. Steps have also been taken to intensify patrolling in different parts of the city to prevent such petty crimes.
