Bhubaneswar Sex Racket: Seven Bangladeshi Victims To Be Sent Home

Bhubaneswar: The Special Task force (STF) of police have begun the repatriation of seven Bangladeshi girls, who were rescued from a sex racket in the city earlier, to their home country.

According to an STF release on Tuesday, it is in touch with the External Affairs Ministry in New Delhi for early repatriation of the victim girls. In turn, the ministry will approach the Bangladesh High Commission for nationality and other verifications of the girls from Bangladesh.

After getting the verification, the High Commission will issue travel permits for victims. Following this, some legal and administrative formalities will be completed and then Border Security Force (BSF) will hand over the victims to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the release said.

Notably, STF had busted a sex racket in the city and arrested four persons in this connection. It had also rescued eight girls — seven from Bangladesh and one from Kolkata — who were trafficked and forced into prostitution.

The victims were produced in a Bhubaneswar court and later lodged at a shelter home. STF has already handed over the girl from Kolkata to her family.
